14th Annual Reid's Ride Donation

Lynnfield, MA – Wakefield Co-operative Bank proudly sponsored the 14th annual Reid’s Ride, which took place Sunday, July 15th and raised over $215,000 for clinical research, special programs, and education to improve the lives of adolescents and young adults with cancer.

The Reid R. Sacco AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) Cancer Alliance has raised more than $2.5MM since its inception, a sum which has enabled the launch of AYA Cancer Programs (and Clinics) at Tufts Medical Center and at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Wakefield Co-operative Bank held a ‘Jeans Day’ for Reid’s Ride at the end of June, and President & CEO, Jeff Worth, doubled employee contributions with a donation out of his own pocket and also provided an additional donation from the bank, totaling $630.

Every month, bank employees are encouraged to wear denim to work on designated ‘Jeans Days’ in exchange for a small donation to a community organization.

Reid’s Ride is a 28-mile bike ride from Lynnfield High School to Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, which was named after and inspired by Reid Sacco, a Lynnfield resident who courageously battled and lost his life to cancer at 20 years old in 2005.
