Wakefield, MA – Wakefield Co-operative Bank is the proud sponsor of the Market Kitchen Tent and Farm/Food Education program at the Wakefield Farmers Market (WFM) this season.
For the past several years, WFM has presented cooking demonstrations most market days featuring produce acquired from the farmers that morning to encourage shoppers to try new foods, recipes, and preparation methods. With Wakefield Co-operative Bank’s sponsorship, the market will continue to offer these demonstrations and returning this season is local chef, Suman Shah, who wowed everyone with delicious recipes last year.
WFM recently created a new, easily accessible and searchable website wfmmarketkitchen.site dedicated to showcasing Shah’s recipes.
“We couldn’t be happier to support Wakefield’s impressive Farmers Market,” said Jeff Worth, President & CEO of Wakefield Co-operative Bank. “Many of our employees grow their own fruit and vegetable gardens (and in my case also raise chickens and bees) and shop local farms for our groceries each week. This contribution to the community truly resonates with us and we look forward to the season ahead.”
WFM’s goal for the 2018 season is to incorporate more and more educational information, focusing on the importance of supporting local agriculture, sharing how we can all take steps to ensure that local farmers survive and thrive, and how everyone can be part of the food system whether by visiting local farmers or growing food in their own backyards or window boxes.
“WFM is really excited by this new partnership with and support from Wakefield Co-operative Bank,” said Wendy Dennis, Market Manager. “My thanks to everyone involved; the bank’s support ensures that we can continue educating folks on healthy and tasty ways to use the produce our farmers grow.”
