News About Our Future Bank Partnership and New Locations

Today, I am pleased to announce that Wakefield Co-operative Bank is entering into a partnership agreement with Reading Cooperative Bank. This collaboration aims to create a stronger, more resilient financial institution dedicated to serving our customers and communities. Once approved by the Massachusetts Division of Banks and the Federal Reserve, we will expand our branch network to include more locations to enhance services and provide greater convenience for our valued customers.
Together, the combined institution will have approximately $1.2 billion in assets and 14 full-service locations across 11 distinct towns. Importantly, our customers will continue to receive banking services from the employees they know and trust.
The newly formed organization will retain the name Reading Cooperative Bank and will be led by Julieann M. Thurlow. Jeffrey A. Worth, President of Wakefield Co-operative Bank, will join as President of the combined entity.
This partnership unites two strong organizations with a shared history of community service and a commitment to the mutual banking model. Together, it creates a larger and stronger bank, capable of offering even more meaningful services to meet our customers evolving needs.
All independent members of the Wakefield and the Reading combined board firmly believe that this partnership enhances the bank’s ability to preserve its cooperative values while continuing to care for its customers and communities.
