The 6th Annual Parent University will take place Saturday, March 23rd at Galvin Middle School from 8am – 12pm. The event is sponsored by Wakefield Co-operative Bank and presented by Wakefield Public Schools, Wakefield Academy, Wakefield Parent Partnership, Wake-Up Coalition, Wakefield SEPAC, and WCAT. Parent University is open to the public and parents & caregivers in surrounding area towns are welcome to register.
Parent University provides knowledge and advice from community experts through a series of free workshops focusing on students’ educational experience and well-being. Attendees may choose from a variety of sessions within the categories of Curriculum, Community, and “The Whole Child Matters”.
This year’s key note speaker is Jerry Posner, who will speak on ‘The Practical Power of Gratitude’ and how a little extra focus on “the good stuff” can have significant positive results over time. In Posner’s inspiring and engaging presentation, attendees will learn how to use “grati-tools” for increased happiness, decreased stress, improved relationships, and a more positive perspective.
Wakefield Co-operative Bank will host its ‘Raising Money Savvy Children’ workshop featuring Tom Elkins of Trilogy Financial, which received rave reviews at last year’s Parent University.
Free childcare is provided by Wakefield Academy. Kid Camp will be a morning of fun activities for children ages 4-13. Children will be grouped by age and rotate through activities led by the staff at: Kidcasso Art Studio, Sportszone, Miss Krystn's Dance, Kids’ Test Kitchen, Pedro’s Judo, and more!
