6th Annual Parent University

Over 200 parents and caregivers came out to learn about Social Emotional, Academic, and Community topics at the 6th annual Parent University on March 23rd.  Jerry Posner had the audience laughing and learning in a keynote titled, “The Practical Power of Gratitude”  and parents then attended two different workshops (with a selection of twelve different titles lead by school personnel and area experts). Some of the most popular workshops included: Understanding Anxiety; Mindfulness: Balance for Students in a Stressful World; Successful Transitions Pre-K to K & Grade 4-5, Raising Money-Savvy Children, Wakefield Civics 101, “In Plain Sight”, Raising and Supporting a Reader, Wakefield Civics 101. Parent University is made possible by the generosity of Wakefield Academy & partners, Wakefield Co-operative Bank, Wake-Up Coalition, the Wakefield Parent Partnership, and parents & caregivers who donate their time and talents to the Parent University Planning Committee.
