Wakefield Co-operative Bank employees wore jeans to work recently to benefit A Healthy Lynnfield’s upcoming event, A Night of Hope, co-sponsored with Think of Michael and taking place Sunday, September 22nd at 6pm at Lynnfield Middle School. The bank’s President & CEO, Jeff Worth, doubled employee donations with a personal contribution out of his own pocket and additional funds from the bank brought the donation to $585.
Every month, bank employees are encouraged to wear denim to work on designated Jeans Days in exchange for a donation to a community organization. A Healthy Lynnfield was nominated by employees as a Jeans Day recipient for their visible hard work and commitment to preventing substance misuse and improving the quality of life of those affected through support programs and education.
A Night of Hope is a community gathering to show support for those impacted by substance use. Anyone may join in the walk from Lynnfield Middle School to the Town Common and the gathering together to hear stories of recovery and participate in a lighting ceremony to share hope and strength. This free event is rain or shine and all ages are welcome.
Think of Michael was established in 2018 by the Dalton family in Lynnfield in memory and in honor of their son, Michael, who tragically died at 39 of an accidental overdose. Think of Michael offers sober house scholarships to those in need after completing a treatment program and also provides a wide variety of ongoing recovery and support services.
"We are very fortunate to have the support of Wakefield Co-operative Bank for A Night of Hope,” said Peg Sallade, Substance Use Prevention Coordinator. “This is a community-wide event in collaboration with the Think of Michael Foundation designed to raise awareness about the impact of substance use disorders and to share strength and hope for those in their recovery journey. The bank has been a great partner in A Healthy Lynnfield's community work to prevent substance misuse and improve the quality of life for those impacted."
