The Walton Elementary School Student Council in Wakefield met virtually with a Director of the Boys & Girls Club in May to learn about their mission and all the good work they do for the community. The Council then decided to host a spare change fundraiser to benefit the 2021 summer programming at Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield, and invited all students to bring their spare change to school to deposit in the collection container.
Walton students and parents stopped by Wakefield Co-operative Bank at the end of the fundraiser in June to tally up the change collected using the bank’s coin machine, amounting to $101.33. The bank’s President & CEO, Jeff Worth, took $100 in cash out of his suit pocket to bring the donation to $201.33 and the Trachtenberg family matched that amount, with a final total of $402.66.
