Parent University 2022 Sponsor

Parent University Sponsor

Wakefield Co-operative Bank is proud to sponsor the 9th annual virtual Parent University. This is the bank’s 8th year sponsoring the event, which is presented by Wakefield Public Schools, Wake-Up Coalition, WMHS PTSA, and the Parent Teacher Organizations of the Galvin, Dolbeare, Greenwood, and Walton schools.

This year’s virtual workshops run Thursday, March 24th and Tuesday, March 31st in the evenings. Choice workshops are facilitated by Wakefield Public Schools staff and community partners and cover topics that span all grade levels. Earlier this month, keynote speaker Lynn Lyons, LICSW, spoke about the emotional skills needed for caregivers to help children through anxiety, mood and social pressures, and keynote Mishy Lesser, ED.D. discussed the Emmy Award-winning documentary Dawnland which reveals the untold narrative of Indigenous child removal in the United States.

Wakefield Co-operative Bank’s “Raising Money Savvy Kids” workshop, presented by Tom Elkins, Managing VP at Trilogy Financial in Woburn, will take place Thursday, March 24th from 7-8pm. This session will provide practical techniques to use with your children to help them grow and become money savvy. The session will provide tools for kids at every age level and discuss saving, spending, investing, jobs, debt, budgets and even touch on building credit. With each topic there will be age appropriate items you can work on with your children.
