Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent emails, texts and calls (known as phishing) from scammers pretending to be their bank.
Wakefield Co-operative Bank together with the ABA (American Bankers' Association) wants to help bank customers avoid such scams by raising awareness of best practices for phishing defense through an informative educational program called "Banks Never Ask That."
There are five Pro Tips that we'll be sharing over the coming weeks so you too can identify and steer clear of phishing scams.
Pro Tip 1: WATCH FOR MISSPELLED WORDS
Fraudulent texts and emails often have typos. Real banks use spell check.
