Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent emails, texts and calls (known as phishing) from scammers pretending to be their bank. The result can be financially devastating for victims.
Wakefield Co-operative Bank together with the ABA (American Bankers' Association) wants to help bank customers avoid such scams by raising awareness of best practices for phishing defense through an informative educational program called "Banks Never Ask That."
Throughout the month of October known as Cybersecurity Awareness month, the Bank will post important information to its Facebook and Instagram pages for consumers to identify and avoid well known scams.
